Hi all,

I have an 84 G/S in Dunkle Blue. I want to fit a white tank and front mudguard, just for a change. The standard white colour for the year is 592 alpinewiess. Is there a modern equivalent, or is the original colour still available. Any help appreciated.

RS Bike paints will match and colour you want. I've used them before and found them to be excellent. Not cheap but then quality isn't http://www.rsbikepaint.com/en-us/colours.php if you want a cheap alternative then most motor factor companies that supply paint will mix the colour for you. RS charge £18 for a quarter litre of Alpenweiss and £18 for a half llitre of laquer. The lacquer is an option as the bikes weren't lacquered from the factory.

The code your using is the Scheme colour the paint code for Alpenweiss is 146. The scheme colour defines all aspects of the bikes colour scheme including the seat colour whereas the paint code is just the paint.

Any paint factor can mix up some paint of the correct shade. We have one local to us in Maidstone and the proprietor can detect minute amounts of (say) yellow or blue in a white that the average person (me) can't. His paint is also supplied in dumpy paint cans with a fan-like nozzle.

And you've got a man who is very good at painting bike bits and cars in Mansfield!
