R 850GS Information Wanted

Hi there,
Thought I'd better join up as I have recently bought an R 850GS so technically am a bit junior to you 1100, 1150 and 1200GS's out there!
Trying to find out about panniers for the 850GS, are they any different to the 1100 or 1150GS? I suspect not but just need some advice as to what is available. Also I'm trying to find out about some history to the
850GS, I believe only 2000 were built so they are not that common. Any further information would be great.

I had an R850GS and loved it to bits. Everything that foits on an 1100GS will go on the 850 gs. The 1150GS has quite a few differences although I believe things like Exhausts can be swapped and the like however the 1150 is a 6 speed.

As Andy says, the cycle parts from the 1100 are identical to the 850. Panniers from either 1100 or 1150 fit. Exhaust system is different on the 1150, I think.

Many thanks for all the info. The bike is purchased but still to arrive as its in Bonny Scotland, its a 2000 with only 12k on the clock. As soon as I have pictures I will post them up.

My understanding is the 850 and the 1100 are the same thing, only the 850 is different, in that the 850 has the barrels and pistons from an 850R and a motronic engine management system from the 850RT.
They go off road well, just need the hard parts fitted.
If you have ABS fitted it might be worth checking when the brake fluid was last changed if the bike has only done 12K.
I think the 850gs final drive may be a different ratio to the 1100gs?
