Does anybody know if I can swap a right-hand switchgear without continuous light ('99 R1150GS ABS) with one with continuous light?
Reason why I'm asking is that I want to retro-fit heated grips and found a 2004 Adventure switchgear continuous light.

Thanks

I asked the opposite question to my dealer the other day (from no switch to switch). You can do it, but apart from the switchgear you need the wiring loom for that switchgear that connects to the main wiring loom of the bike. It can definitely be done, I'm just not sure how hard it is.

Thanks Alex, my switchgear came with the wiring loom. So is the main wiring loom on the bike the same for both switchgears?

Carbold: I sort of did the same thing. I've got a '99 1150 which had an on-off light switch and the 1st heated grip switchgear I ordered came without the on-off (it was a continental continous light). I was told that it would be ok but I sent it back as I wanted the option to have my light on or not.

It's took me ages to get hold of another switchgear which I just fitted at the weekend. It's quite an easy job to switch them and plug them into the wiring loom. My problem now is figuring out where to plug the heated grip wires into. (My post is on here somewhere at the minute.)

Dunk I saw you were struggling with those connections, I'm worried 'cos soon I will get the heated grips and go through the same prob...provided that the switchgear works...
And yes, it is hard to find a switchgear, if I had the choice I would have got the one with the switch but no luck.

Once I get it sorted out mate I'll hopefully be able to help you with any problems that may arise.

Just to let you know that it didn't work: the wiring loom is different for the two clusters. Selling on ebay the switchgear plus master cylinder...
