I took my rebuilt GS PD for a short run on Sunday, I notice that the MPH clock is only reading 20 mph no matter what speed I am doing, the speedo cable is new and running free. I've connected a drill to the gear box end of the cable and ran it at different speeds still it only reads 20 MPH.

My thinking at this point is a new speedo but before I put out the cost of a new clock, could it be something to do with the drive in the gear box.:blast

Nowt to do with the gearbox if you've used a drill at the end of the cable....so, looks to me like a new speedo is needed:comfort...Thunder and Bill-H are anoraks :)on speedos and may be of help.:thumb2

Now, I've a puppy to get back to, to entertain...

my Bike is so fast, it does between 40 and 60Kmh at a standstill.
as the needle now jams between those two figures.

i gave up on the bmw speedo and use either a little GPS or more often a bicycle speedo. the bicycle speedo is actually more accurate then the beemer one and has no madly flickering needle - just clear digits to look at :thumb2

but i would love to know if it's possible to repair the original.

Yeah, eventually ur BMW speedo will fail, this is a fact unfortunately. I'll probably replace mine with an Acewell or a Trailtech Vapor. I have a vapor on my DRZ and you can get it tuned fairly accurately to only 2km/h out at 120 compared to the gps.
