Over the past few months I have stripped and refurbished my BMWR 100GSPD after officially retiring it from its life of long distance. It had just clicked 250,000km and reached that stage where the reliability was starting to be a concern.

And the price of fuel.

However, my problem has arisen when trying to get the carbs ( bing ) running at anything approaching smoothly after cleaning them up and generally poking them with sticks and random tools.

Does anyone have a suggestion to a refurbishment service that I could use?

COuld always send them to scrimminger... but I'm sure there are lots of other people closer who could do this for you... perhaps contact steptoe at the gsshop?!? Google gsshop.biz or pm him on here.

Always hear great things about Scrimminger, probably be my first choice.

Alternatively there is also http://www.jrs.uk.com/jrs/JRS_Home.html

Or if you want to have another bash yourself, I have the Bing book which you are welcome to borrow if you want me to pop it in the post.

Hi

If you can wait a couple of weeks I can help. I am in Fleet, just down the road. I would say bring it around tomorrow, but I had an operation yesterday and I am on crutches.

What have you replaced? I would recommend a full overall kit such as FUA35001S from Motorworks (you need two).

What have you cleaned and how? Carbs have brass parts that are very soft and easy to damage. I give my approach to cleaning a bing carb here. However if the carbs are really heavily fouled you will need to get them ultrasonically cleaned - I must put an ultrasonic cleaner on my xmas list ;)
