There comes a time when things have to change. This time has sadly come.

My wife Jill has decided that she can no longer cope with her R100GS and that it might well be loved by someone else who will use it how it was designed to be used.

1992 R100GS Lowered and modified. Tuned and Twin plugged.
This is a rather unusual R100GS, as it has been lowered for use by those with a shorter inside leg than most.
The bike was tuned and twin plugged by Jim Cray for it's original owner, raising the power to an estimated 70bhp over the original 60bhp.

The bike is registered as having had 3 owners. It was registered by the selling dealer (Somewhere near Aldershot) and used for a short period as a demonstrator before being sold to the first owner, who we purchased the bike from approximately 17 years ago. Jill being the second/third owner.

The first owner was a very tall chap who fitted an extended Ohlins rear shock and supplied the original with the bike (I sold the Ohlins some years ago btw). I never fitted the original shock and am 90% certain we still have it and will pass it on with the bike.
On purchase I lowered the GS by nearly 6" at the seat hight. I did all the modifications in the most sympathetic way I could. All the original fairing panels and other parts are stored in a box that will come with the bike. Anything that needed altering was done using second hand parts. The exception being the seat. This was modified to make it lower and narrower for Jill to be able to reach the ground more confidently.

Alterations are;
R100R rear shock, Cut and retrimmed seat, Lowered foot rests (home conversion that don't chew up the inside of your boots), Extension arm on side stand. Replacement clock housing/Dash. Acerbis fairing and hi front fender, 5" Cibi headlight fitted with H4 HiD bulb (much better than the original square ones), Up and Back bar raisers, Yokes slid down fork tubes. TKC 80 tyres.
The bike can easily be converted back to original with all the parts I have kept.

Over the years this R100GS has been used extensively including some long distance tours, with the original owner clocking up well over 120'000 miles, with the speedo now showing 41000 miles (the original speedo was changed at 100'000 as the face was fading and he wanted it to prove the milage. I also have this). He kept the bike in good condition and regularly serviced, then latterly having the tuning work carried out by the infamous Jim Cray. In the 17 years Jill has owned the bike we have toured much of western Europe, including the Pyrenees and the Alpes several times. In all those years the bike has been properly serviced and has never failed or faltered in any way, other than needing higher octane fuel in the Hi Alps (super Unleaded).
In it's present configuration it not only looks great it rides great too and has been much admired by members of this forum over the years. I believe I got the set-up just right.
I'll be taking the bike for it's MOT next Tuesday 13th May, so will have a year from then.
