I want to buy some Hepco & Becker pannier frames for my R100GS.

They do 2 versions, asymmetrical with the standard exhaust in place and symmetrical with the standard exhaust removed.

I prefer the symmetrical version as the panniers fit closer to the bike but I am not sure about the exhaust.

Does anyone know what exhaust is needed for this symmetrical setup. It is not clear from the photos on the H&B site. Is there a low exhaust available or can the bike be run with a stubby like the 1150 GS. My thinking is that it can't run with a stubby as that would be too loud as there is no cat.

Here is the link to the photos of the frames on the H&B site.

Thanks

R100 GS zorst.

Catalytic converters were not fitted on air heads. I know the exhaust box looks like one but its not. (No fuel injection )Putting a low exhaust with suitable brackets on should not be too difficult. Bear in mind leaving enough space to get the wheel off.

The Asymetrical really dont look that bad when there on.
Your putting yourself to a lot of hassle & expense for very little gain.

The road biased version of your bike had a low level exhaust. If you can find a collector for it you can fit a silencer to suit and then have the panniers you want.

I sometimes run a full sized pannier on the left using the standard pannier frame. I can honestly say I dont give a toss what it looks like.

Thanks, I didn't know about the road version of the bike, I'll keep a look out.

It is not the looks that bother, it's the width.

I think this is what the OP was looking for. Thread is a few years old now but this might be a handy reference for someone. Photo originally on a blog by optimistic biker http://optimisticbiker.blogspot.ie/ but I can't see way to contact him.

Gletter make a small can which would probably do the job, but drawbacks, apart from the cost, are that it is too small to give acceptable power and noise reduction at the same time, and you would probably have to remove it, and the pannier frame, to remove the wheel.

All based on my experience with a 1000cc R80 G/S PD , so YEMV.

I have a 2 into 1 y-pipe and a verry nice akrapovic street legal that would du the job nicely !!!

Just realised from another photo that the optimistic biker bloke was running a 2 into 2 setup.
