R100GS Lowered Pegs excitement

Finally got round to fitting the new-to-me secondhand gear lever (from Motorworks) which I cut down, shaped and got powder-coated. Haven't test ridden it yet.

Looks nice now its all done. But I have to say, these after market lowered pegs don't half complicate the issue. Why no one has made a pair that simply sit lower instead of upshing the feet forward baffels me. On Jills 100GS it was easy to lower the pegs and nothing was lost nor did it cause anything else to be altered to make them work propperly.

I finally went out for a long-ish ride yesterday and found the new set up gave a lot more room for gear changing but I need to lower the gear lever (by extending the adjustable rod) about 5-10mm.

As an aside I swapped-out the side stand for a stainless one I bought on this site and now I can get the stand down with my left foot without getting off the bike. I can hold the stand against the stop and then lean the bike over to the left until the stand touches the ground. This is a big improvement for me, as swinging my leg off the bike with camping gear on the pillion area will lead to a fall at some stage.
