R100GS PD - I want another.....

I've had an example of most GSs but due to various circumstances have now been without a bike for four years - it's now time to get back on two wheels and I want another PD (I last had one back in about '95). I am going to have a look at a '93 PD this weekend - looks very nice and I am assured it's a tip top example....but the price is 7,250.........any opinions???? (no swearing please)

Its a bike that was 'recommissioned' not rebuilt by BAMW a couple of years ago. Its on his website on a sale or return basis.

Bikes from the BAMW shed are usually stunning and there is a market for these bikes from a certain type of buyer (like the bloke who no doubt bought it for that and now wants that money back). But I'll tell you now its £2 grand overpriced.

What it is, is a £4K bike with a suspension upgrade (and not a top notch one at that )

But a fekkin bargain compared to the interestingly coloured but genuine and mercifully rare G/S on the same site - 11 grand - gawd bless ya Gary

Have a look at my bicke up for grabs totaly restored last winter everry nut and bolt origanly built by Herbert Scheck in 1987 only 2 register keepers but first registerd in 1997 it will only increass in value 7500 pound or 8500 with a wp front end and 17" front wheel in ! only a 3 rd of what a hpn or moorspeed will set you back if you have a bicke built to this speck !!!

You pretty much confirm my thoughts - I'm thinking 5500.....but I don't want to insult the owner......what to do? Trouble is I live in the highlands and only very rarely get the chance (I have a strange job) to travel South but have the next ten days off so I am making the journey to try and find my 'new' bike.
The next problem will be if I do buy something, to get it home - I'll probably have to get a shipping company involved, unless I can pick up a trailer (I have a tow bar) on my travels.
I am so looking forward to getting back on a bike.

all most forgot original 50.000km to many mods to list but profi s will no !!!
I am shure when I convert the front end I wont be selling even thou this is one of 3 and I am collechtin new bits all the time to build a nother bicke

1 why would /should any individual have to justify his price .
you either want it at that price or you dont.
2 The Market value of any item is what the buyer is prepared to pay for
such an item , Past sales are an indicator , but not the Value. Right ?.
3 Having recently advertised a R100GS on Ebay , at what i thought seemed
like a market value , i didnt get one bit.
90% of my reasoning , If i needed it, was that , that is what i had
spent on that bike. So i wanted my money released.

How do you come to a market value , let keep the Grading simple

A = As new or better
B = Used ,but presentable /useable right away
C = Refurb Job

mine is well under priced but I bought it at a good price and its just been a winter projecht thies bickes go for the same money in Germany that need restoring as in total refurb frame powder couting full nut and bolt rebould I recently sold my porsch 964 after owning it 2 years I sold it on with no mot and the sterring wheel on the rong side for 18000 thats 2000 more than I payed I kick my self that I nether bought a lhd re im port from germany in the uk then I would of made 30.000 plus one thing I have lernt on boys toys you will nether losse money

It's half the price of a new toilet.

It will provide the discerning gentleman owner with many many years of sheer joy.

It's a totally different bike to the toilet, but it's so perfectly in its own niche that it beats the toilet, which belongs neither here nor there

Is it worth it?

Only the prospective owner can possibly say, because it's his money and his target bike.


For the sort of gentleman who wants to buy this sort of bike, it's a far better proposition than the 'latest' must have toilet, and at half the price, it's a fucking bargain

Phil being Honest with you (absolutely NOT having a Dig), it's like a de-faired GSXR / CBR / ZXR that has been streetfightered

a bike may never have been in an accident but People don;t see it that way

Because yours doesn't look like a Std GS does, folks think its bastardised as soon as they see the handlebar, Clock, Headlamp set up

I am sure that If you fitted;- the std clock, headlamp housing and even if you refitted that screen(which works bloody well) I am sure they'd be more inclined to purchase
