As Sid says That's way too expensive for what it is. There's too much that looks like it's been tarted up. you'd spend a fortune sorting a bike like that out.

It has a lot of good parts on it but the underlying bike looks very tatty and well used. For me touratech parts are a negative, mostly irrelevant. Those headlight may look the part but the chances are they don't work well, overheat and are a bugger to change the bulb on. The alternator will not cope with twin headlights and those spotlights so you'd need to check that the alternators been upgraded.

.

Exactly my thoughts when I saw it advertised the first time. In my opinion if you see an airhead gs being advertised more than once it is a sure sign that something is not quite right about it or it is overpriced.

Thinking of putting mine up next year...I have to say it looks better than those shown so far in this thread in my opinion!

And just in case you want a totally standard model, I've got the original panniers and frames too.

But then I might be bias.

It doesn't matter how many extras at what cost you never get your money back. Standard bike is always worth more or extras are usually priced at 10% of origins price. That's why you nearly see people taking off the bits and pieces to sell sepertly and putting the bike back to standard. JJH

The conversation appears to have moved on from a particular bike, to whether you should retain it as stock as possible.

Rather depends if you want to ride it, keep it as a static piece of history, or sell it.

Mine was a fairly well worn example. I preferred to modify to improve its capacities for what I want. It was never going to have value based on what it was. It's value is what someone is prepared to pay for it, if I decide to sell it. By the time I sell it it will have likely depreciated to zero value.

Whether the OP is prepared to pay the asking price depends on what he wants to use the bike for. I don't know that anyone asked...
