R100rt project

brakes appear to be ok.
I would think those rubber lines need replaced for sure and at least pop the callipers apart and make sure you can press the pistons back with finger pressure Whilst they appear okay believe me I have found some horrors through the years Mostly the Hoses swelling shut and creating a one way valve !!! Torn rubber bots and pistons "sticking" to the seals with water ingress etc

Speedo drive boot Is it supple and has a tiny cable tie on the upper bit ?? Nope? Drain and check the gear oil USual point of ingress and end result in creamy oil Oooo Er missus !!

Are there any airhead experts around Sandbach (m6j17) who would be able to advise me with a problem I have with the r100? Runs on full choke and that's it. I have cleaned the idle and main jets but problem still there.

They need to be warm before you turn the chokes off

Start it on choke and bring it up to about 1250~1500rpm (Obviously Not standing/sitting where you can knock the bugger into gear !!!)

Run it for maybe a minute or so and you should then hear it start to sound a little off Ease back on the choke and try and work the throttle to keep the revs about 1200

To set these bikes up you need to have them at full operating temp

After about 3 to 5 mins of this fast idle running it and easing the chokes off it may have enough heat to keep running albeit a tad lumpy as the heat ~ fuel ratios are not quite right

Check you have 2mm free play in the throttle cables at the carburettor. Also check that tickover screw is just touching the carb. It is a start !! ( try screwing in the tick-over adjustment one full turn and see if it runs off choke, you can always back it off or add more etc. Do each carb the same each time). Sounds just a set-up issue TBH

I've taken the carbs to the local ultrasonic cleaning guy, could be a couple of weeks before they return

That would make a great "cafe racer" (joke).

Looks in nice condition, should have plenty on miles left in it. (y)
