Finally got round to fitting my racks the other day to replace the standard luggage rails. Thought it'd be straight forward which it pretty much was. The only head scratching moment was on the rear upper rhs mount where I had use the spacer from the original rail.
Everything else was pretty much straight forward, but the lateral movement was concerning.
Anyway it's on now n seems pretty secure and solid but just wondered if anyone else has had to space there racks out? It's only 10mm or so on one side so can't see it being a big issue.

Mine went on with no problem, no extra spacers needed.

I have had extra supports welded from the hoop to the front mounting point for the original rails though to take out some of the flex

As did mine, been on 4 years, never felt the need to strengthen them in any way, but then I generally only use the wife's old 21litre panniers on it.

I fitted Givi pannier frames to my newer 1100 a couple of weeks ago (bought from Motocard much cheaper than you can get them here!). I also fitted them to my older 1100 a few years ago. They have now been redesigned to include a fixing to the front system pannier bracket. Having said that, my old ones have never showed any signs of failure.
I found these latest ones needed a bit of fiddling but didn`t need spacers (although I am sure it will be fine if you have used them)
As with all these things, it is best to start all the bolts only a couple of turns before tightening.
