R1100/1150GS Injector upgrade from the US - group buy interest?

no idea chris - i have the same bike as you and dont have any such issue - would it be possible that the electrical cables or fuel lines were not fully seated, or that the adapters were not correctly assembled? failing that I would suggest getting in touch with keith directly to see if he has any ideas. If you want, you could send your injectors to me to try in mine, which would rule out either of them being faulty.

do you have any other fuelling or ignition timing mods?

just a thought but the contacts on my injector electrical connector were a bit corroded. it could be possible that your original injectors connectors and the wire had enough contact area to work in spite of any corrosion, whereas the new injectors may not. clutching at straws i know but worth cleaning everything up there if you havnt already.

cheers

Chris,

Could it be the right hand or left hand throttle cable has come out of the sheathing at the throttle body pulleys? Or maybe a throttle body sync?

my bike has a Johns tuning chip but mothing else

No its not that .it would affect my standard injectors if it was

Ya after I wrote that I realized that you said the old ones work fine. Sorry. Then I tried to delete it but could not figure that out, I guess I don't have the authority to delete. Does not show that option.

Right then I am obviously a knob, but try as I might I cannot get these to fit!!!

Its obvious how the parts go together, and no issue there, however as I try and do the bolts up on the support bracket, it pulls the top cap bit and they then go on at an angle and dont stay petrol tight.
I am a fair mechanic and rather than force it, thought I would check to see if I have the right parts but cant find the kit on the web page!!
I have had these things on and off half a dozen times but no matter what I do I cannot get these to bolt on and stay straight.

any ideas?

I thought these kits were for the 1150 only and there is a different kit for the 1100?

I could be talking crap though?!

no two kits one for 1150 and one for 1100.

the kit consists of a machined cap that fits on the injector, one that fits on the petrol pipe a support bracket 2 long screws and two spacers, obviously the same for each side.

the cap on the petrol pipe end of the injector just will not stay straight as the bracket is done up, the cap has a rim around the base that the bracket sits on and is what holds the whole assembly, instead of going on parallel it goes on at an angle, but I cant find a picture of the kits to see if what I have is what I should have!!

Fairly obvious I know, but the original o ring isn't still in the plastic clamp is it? When I removed the injector from the clamp the o ring didn't come out and stayed in the clamp. I'm talking 1150 set up.

this is how the bits go richard:

when i removed my old ones the rubber bung in the throttle body stayed put and i had to fish it out with long nose pliers.

i suspect this might be your problem, trying to put it in with 2 rubber bungs would cause the injector not to push in far enough and the angle would be off.

no its a completely new clamp and replaces the original

thanks for that, I told you I was a knob, left the bung in place DOH !!!!!!!!

Still smart enough to know there was a problem, stop and not break it. And yes I was out on the bike;-)

Well I finally got round to installing these injectors on my 1150 over the weekend. Took two attempts to get the r/h injector seated to my satisfaction, and apart from this it was an easy install. Upon starting the idle is smoother and the bike appears to have more response throughout the rev-range. Just got back from doing about 75 miles as a test ride and my early impressions are positive, with much cleaner and smoother acceleration with better mid range pick-up.

Its early days, but so far I'm well pleased and this upgrade looks to be good value for money. Thanks again Gordon.
