Hi all,

I've purchased back in the summer a lovely 1100Gs thats been passed down in this forum. Amazing bike, managed to get in a 2000 mile trip around Scotland this summer on it.

Lately it has developed an intermittent cut out issue. After some research I think I traced the issue to the ignition switch.

I was hopping at replacing this switch but it seems impossible to find a new or even a second hand one in the UK. Anyone got an idea if the current switch could just be repaired, or if there is
a place that sells them?

Thanks,
Patrick

It's probably the white switch section at the bottom of the ignition switch. This is a user replaceable item only needing a small screwdriver.
There should be a dot of red paint on the side of the barrel, and if you clean this back you should have access to the small scrw which retains the actual swithc.
The switch is ELA06103 or BMW 61322306103

PS
Remove any excess cable ties as this causes the wiring to break on the bottom of the switch

Thanks for that, yep that switch is the issue. The issue that I am having I cannot find that part for sale anywhere. Tried motoworks they don't have it. I guess I could try with a main dealer?

The advice is not to cable tie the replacement tight up to the headstock or you will cause the same fault again.

Thanks all for the help, just changed the ignition switch today and bike seems happier now :) finally managed to go on a ride without worrying it will cut out one me!
