hi all, finally changed the bodged cut down remus that came with the bike to a straight through link pipe and a harpoon slip on.the bike does,nt run too bad(a little load maybe) but i think i,ve lost a little bit of ummmph low down, also the plugs are sooty black?running rich?could i have killed the lambda when removing(soaked in wd40 the night before removal)is there anything i can do to rectify?what will the removal of the ccp do?could i have dislodged anything when removing the tank?will running the bike like this damage anything or just drink fuel like i drink stella:D.any answers much appreciated cheers craigyboy:thumb

I recently fitted a laser exhaust to my 1100, the chap that sold it to me reckoned to remove the CCp (beige one) pull fuse number 5 for a minute then turn on the bike, open the throttle fully twice, I ran a tank of fuel through it, I got normal range but the rear end of the bike was well sooty, I decided to refit the CCp and went through the fuse thing again, It seems not to be sooty now, my bike has no Lambda sensor though.

pull fuse number 5 for a minute then turn on the bike, open the throttle fully twice,

Why did he suggest this - What does doing the above have to do with fitting a different exhaust ?

I see this advice posted so many times and most people have no idea of what it is they're actually doing or it's function.

It's the TPS telling the motronic where idle and full throttle is. Which it has already done anyway before fitting a new exhaust, and which it does anyway within 5 minutes of starting and riding normally if the battery is ever disconnected.

So lets think - You've removed one pile of shite and replaced it with yet another pile of shite and wonder why you've lost some mid range grunt and it's running rich. And now your trying to try all sorts of methods to try and cure the problem you've fitted in the first place. Quell surprise :augie:D

mr steptoes right in the way of ive replaced the pile of shite that was already on the bike but what i,ve replaced it with is one good looking, highly polished, not too loud, hooligan looking motherfunky of an exhaust and yes lads i,m scratching my head at how to solve this minor problem so keep the suggestions rolling in and i,ll buy you a drink when i catch up with you:thumb

Exhausting

Put a std silencer on it that will cure all your probs and make it go better, if you want to make a noise buy a Harley.

:augie now there,s one name off my christmas card list:).anyhow i,ve put the other pile of SHITE back on and it still smells like its over-fueling.i,m gonna order a removable baffle for the other pile of SHITE and take a trip off to the dyno man see what he can do.unless anyone,s got any other suggestions:confused:

Sorry but I don't know much about this fuel lark other than to say my 99 1100 now wears a mid and rear S/S remus and appears to run fine.

Do the earlier 1100's have the sensor in the pipe?

If the pipe is free breathing should this not mean leaner running?

Is there some other issue here?

Pretend you haven't told them about the pipe and just ask what might cause this on a standard bike:D

stewart mate theres a ccp its pink, does that mean anything to you?and has squid said usually when putting on a free flowing pipe the bike runs leaner:confused:so maybe its not the pipe/can but a different issue altogether?who knows

I am not sure what the pink flavoured one does, theres a lot of info on this site but it seems to mainly relate to 1150s, I pulled my Beige CCp out and that seemed to cause rich running, I replaced it and things seem less sooty, If you look down the page you will see my post to Bluedog and the pin positions for the Beige CCp which is for no cat and no lambda probe (I think) Why not knock up a jumper and try those positions?

Measure the voltage on the o2 sensor connector between the
grey and black wire, when the bike is warmed up and already running for a few minutes ie don't start it warm and measure right up. Wait a few (3-4) mins.
Also, the connector must be connected. You can pull the cable cover.

If it never reaches 0.7 volts at least, then you killed your o2 sensor
via wd40.

cheers buddy will test tomoz has soon has i get home, thanx for the info something else i did,nt know:thumb,so go on then what are you drinking and i,ll get em in:D
