Yesterday I changed the front wheel speedo drive on my 1997 R1100GS for a used drive from an R1100RT.
The speedo used to read about 15% high, now it's more or less accurate !

I think I’ve just woken up in 2001…:thumb
One of the first things I did when I bought mine (in 2001) 🤣

Yeah you have Paul, although my 1100GS is still going strong as a winter bike at 29 years old :)
Mine hadn’t moved since last October, but I woke it up and got it fettled this week. I’ve been trail riding my 31yr old Honda through the winter but can’t wait to get the GS out on the road again. You can’t beat an old bike…

Did the same on my first 1999 r1150gs back in 2003 and it sorted the speedo misread BUT my current 1999 r1150gs when bought had the standard speedo drive and the reading was spot on (the original drive failed a couple of years ago and replaced it with the correct standard one and it is still spot on ).

Both bikes are very early r1150gs's and both built on the same day according to the VIN Decoder ... figure it out

The previous owner of my bike (1150GS) swapped out the speedo drive.

He forgot to mention this when I bought it. I got a message a number of months after the purchase to say he'd done the swap and importantly that it under reads! Thankfully I hadn't got into any bother.

Is a drive from an 1100RT compatible with an 1150GS?

Dangerous ground having an accurate speedo...😄 Mines about 8% which is my BM average apart from the IRS Speedo on my old K11... As long as the pub stories are still inflated you'll be OK...😆
