I had a set of the original, plastic reflector, 35w setups and they were fairly brutal. Currently have a HID in the standard "bus light", but fancy something different.

So what I'm looking for is some info on the two current options that touratech have at the moment:

BMW R 850/1100 GS dual headlight
DE dipped headlight and DE main beam light

Whichever I go for I'll be adding a HID conversion kit as this lad did with the above projectors: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=471323

I've emailed Touratech UK but they seem to know less about these lights than I do.

So does anyone know the difference between these lights? Are the beams different and so on?

I had an upgraded pair of those plastic lensed ones, fitted with glass lenses, not enough room behind them for my HID gubbins, tried it at night  ended up coming home on my FF50s, returned to standard +HID for now, I quite fancy some of those projector lights, though having seen the TT prices I think I would make my own setup, I found the lights on the bay for £30 each, easy enough to make a polycarbonate piece to mount them, Hasenwerk over on ADVrider has a similar setup on his 1100 which looks good.

But would they 'dip' the right way ? Not listed for GB :nenau

Very nice though !

Very true. I'm guessing the light on the left as we look at it has the H4 bulb (dual filament) for the dipped beam but also lights on high beam with the H7.

Would it not be easier / cheaper / better looking to fit the front end from an 1150 on and HID that?

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but I don't like the look of the Wunderlich effort :comfort

I emailed Wunderlich on Saturday about these lights. This is all the info I've gotten so far.

"We made long tests and there are no problems concerning the overheating problem from the past. The lens is made of glass and the reflectors are made of plastic."

As suggested by Stewart above, I'm very very tempted to make my own projector setup with these (£30 odd from eBay). Cut a piece of 2mm or 3mm alloy to size and bolt in place. Looking at the length, a set of H1 HIDs should fit in but I might have to do some fettling to move the bulb forward a bit.

Just an update. I ordered one of these projector lights last week and the quality is very good. The reflector part is made of metal and could easily handle a high wattage halogen bulb. The lights are a lot bigger than you might think but I should be able to get two in side by side and mount them with a piece of alloy.

I'm going to now order the matching high beam projector and a 55w H1 HID kit.
