Hello,

Has anyone transplanted an R12 screen onto a R1100GS ? If so I'd love to see a picture of that.

Aware it won't fit without some DIY

Cheers

I'd be interested in that too as I have the same bike and have been trying various options to improve wind protection and airflow/windnoise/buffeting. Not quite the same as what you are looking for but I have tried 1150GS screen with Tobinators, with and without Wunderlich or Touratech add-on deflectors. I found that the frontal wind protection was pretty good but I got a tremendous updraught around the sides of the tank which was more uncomfortable than the frontal blast. I have now (for the moment) gone back to the standard R1100GS screen with the Wunderlich deflector which has a wider range of adjustment than the Touratech one. Still experimenting though but not wanting to shell out lots for an MRA vario screen or similar without being able to try it first.

By the time you much about with all kinds of things... the £119 of whatever the vario costs now is cheap, easy and a straight forward fix.

Hmm you might have a point there ! They are that good then ?

Was just wondering if an R1200GSA (Pre LC) in dark smoke would look any good on the old R11 ?!

Will take another look at the Vario
Cheers

The vario will make a huge difference. Its very adjustable and you can even take off the top part when offroading or in the summer if you want more clean air. I'm just under 6'3 and the vario was more than enough... so unless you are an absolute monster of a man it should do the trick nicely. Jaws used to sell them cheap to fellow tossers.

I suppose if you really want 1200 parts on your bike, the screen is at least reliable :D

Only 6'1" so should be fine ! Thanks for the advice RE Jaws

mra the way to go
I have tobinaters and the vario on my 1150gs,just works the best for the combinations I have tried
6 foot 3 and I also have the rugged roads deflectors
just repeating what everyone else is saying, hey ho

I had an MRA on my 11 - a huge improvement over the standard screen. I think fabricating the necessary subframe and fixings for a 1200 screen would be a huge amount of work and just not worthwhile when there's an excellent off the shelf alternative.

Now I've got a 1200 GSA, it's true that the 1200 screen is great but it only really works as a 'system' in conjunction with the tank and winglets.
