Not an 1100 owner, but you could be lugging the motor at low revs/high gear.
Whats it like between 3-5K RPM?.May need throttle bodies balancing.

its seems ok 3-5K RPM to be honest havent rid it much at the mow with all the rain and wind only got it 10 days ago only done 2 short journeys perhaps its me in wrong gear

These motors are happier with few RPMs on them, if you search the forum for surging you will find a lot of ideas, make sure the valve clearances and throttle balance are spot on and play about with your technique :thumb2

do you find it jerking at low throttle settings e.g. difficult to maintain constant power?check your throttle cables for adjustment you want about 2mm of slack on each one it also sounds as though it needs a good service valve clearances throttle bodies balancing,
look up steptoe's threads on this subject

Welcome to the world of the "Ugly Duck" 11GS:D Nice looking bike...

It can be one of the quirks of the R11 that they are smoother above 2.5 to 3k revs. It can vary between bikes and can be tuned to some extent but is just the wat it is. Below 2.5k in top they usually become far more snatchy. I always think that 4th is up to about 40 mph and 5th is best above 45/50.

Typically German, they seemed to gear the 5 speeders to be used all the way through the gears rather than just sticking it in top and leaving it there. It is worse than a 3/4 cyl but not as bad as a Duke:D F650 singles usually need to be above this in top as well.

As a bike, you will probably like it a bit when you get it and like it more and more the longer you ride it. They are bikes that really grow on you and these characteristics are usually forgotten once you get used to how it rides.

If it has low miles then they get smoother as the miles build up and can feel best at above 50k miles. A Remus or similar can help as well but is not mandatory:thumb:thumb

congrats with your new bike , hope that you get all sorthed out and enjoy the spring /summer , i found that it takes a few good long rides out to really get to know this bike , but when it clicks like it has with me you will really get into this gs thang !! these really are confidance inspireing bikes for road work , enjoy !!!

thanks everyone just got to wait for it to come back from mot, not looking forward to the bill on that

Get a Haynes or similar and do much of it yourself. The MOT's are usually not too bad to get through and you have a standard zaust. Tons of info on this ere site for basic maintenance.:thumb
