Nice job. :clap

Some more in between photos of the work would be interesting.

I still hanker after an 1100/1150RT but so many are so shabby under the plastic that it's probably best to buy a tatty one and do what you've done here.

Sorry Mike but that's all I have, but it involved lots of cleaning, rubbing down, painting. :D

Paints used Hammerite silver smooth (Forks) etch primer and Simmonz Tough Black for engine and frame parts, two years on and the paintworks still good, unlike modern BMW,s :D

Hi,

Did you re-paint the rocker covers? If so how did you go about it? Mine are looking really tatty at the moment and could do with some TLC or replacing!

The nearside valve cover looked good, (New) offside poor (Flaking matt paint) so I replaced with a new one to match.

FRONT FENDER

Hi

Looks good just wondering if you had any trouble removing the front mudguard.

I have the same bike but cannot remove the screws holding it on they are stuck fast, any tips

!!:beerjug::beerjug:

Thanks Easyrider, think I'll just make do with the slightly tatty ones then!

Dizzy,

I had the same problem it is due to corrosion of the bolts, unfortunately the only way mine came out was by drilling and then using a Hellicoil, now try to avoid removing the front mudguard at all costs!

Anybody got any tips on removing old brake grime and remains of balancing weights from wheel?

Simon

Front mudguard fixings are usually seized, go to undo them and they will snap off, mine all did, they were all drilled out and re tapped the next size up and new stainless screws used with aluslip grease.

Petrol soaked rag & "T Cut" :thumb

Forgive me for saying so, but that's the worse thing you can do, take them out every few month, grease them and put them back in, it only takes a few minutes

Understood Ebbo! I'll give it a go, just hesitant with the helicoils.

I'll give the petrol and t cut a go - been meaning to get the front wheel cleaned up!

I find petrol a bit aggressive, I use WD40 you wouldn't believe how good it is at removing tar spots!
