so long as you remember cat C/D will always be worth far less than a normal bikes.
i had a cat D for 3 yrs and she served me well and sold it for £500 ish less than i paid for it and 30k miles.
if it's as listed which it should be from motorworks and you intend to keep it.
You should be ok.
lastly you can find GSA's out there for good prices.
i did 03 GSA,1 owner,23000 miles for a fair bit less than the one in question.
you pays your money and takes your chances ;)
PS
m/works usally give you a 3 month warranty ?

Cat C stolen recovered but not damaged? Why wasnt it a cat d then, if undamaged??

Will sir be doing a photo-journal of his winter revamp and subsequent spring report:bounce1

ring em up !!
they are always happy to have a chat about anything and will give you all the info you need to know about it

I have rang motorworks and the were really nice people, basically they think it was a cat c as the tank was damaged and ? other damage from the theft that has been fixed. He said there was no crash damage to the bike and it was in very good condition.

As previously said the cat rating will affect resale. If you are keeping it it can be a good buy. There have been some good ADV's on here in the last few months with some good extras but if you feel it's OK then it should be.

I have a 11GS which was a cat C and I got a really good deal at probably £1k less than anything else at the time. I intend to keep it and the history said the cat C was 10 years previous + it test rode OK.

With any sort of damage it is purely how you see it as a deal and in the flesh. Motorworks do tend to have some tempting prices and at least they might know how fix them and have the parts.

My 'umble opinion is even FDSH and meticulous polishing don't mean shit if the everyday mechanicals are neglected and/or the riders are lemons:D

I picked up a CAT C GSA on a 52 plate about a month ago, damage was not that great being indicators, tank, rocker covers and 1 footrest unit, oh and a mirror! It should be back on the road in a few weeks looking immaculate! :D

Possibly damage along the same lines as my Cat C... bike was lifted into a van and.. rubbed against some other poor sods (stolen) pride and joy.

I simply slapped a Bagster cover on the thing and when finances allowed.. had it and the beak resprayed. great excuse to go for a non-standard colour.

Buy it or I will. In fact I nearly did. This looks like the one that went through the BCA auction last month and I spent more time drooling over it than complaining about the cold. There is a small dent in the tank if memory serves otherwise no obvious damage. It's in very nice condition and at the price they're selling it they're making nothing out of it. It sold for well over £3000 and they had costs to pay on top of that. It sounded good, it looked the part and me and my brother went over it and found nothing to put us off, it just went for more than i had on me. Nice bike and if they offer a warranty they'll be well out of pocket selling it. Buy it and ride away laughing. The ending crash bars are missing and will need replacing at a steep cost if you're planning to use it hard.

I would post additional images but I don't think I can as I'm too stubborn to pay to use a site which has yet to be any more useful than the host of free ones out there.

Usually with stolen recovereds is you get it back with minor damage as it was nicked by a pro scumbag or you don't get it/don't want it back as its been fecked over by some junior scumbag.
Had a CBR6 nicked once from Torquay. It was recovered in Newcastle less than 36 hours later and the only damage was the locks, a very small scratch and the fingerprint dust.

I'm waiting for some of these F800GS's to look a bit less shiny and get a bit cheaper:D

My cat C GS was just showing some gimp repairs to a few wires and a possible new front. As they have no substantial main frame they can take a bit of damage without being knackered.

Well

DID you or DIDN'T you ?

Hi all!, I got the bike and i am well chuffed with it!, Drove it back from Huddersfield to London with no problems at all!
Gave her a good clean and not a mark on it, except a slight dink in the tank!
I have to say i was impressed with motorworks, they seem a good company and personally think i got a bargain!
It was apparently bought by a local guy that they know and he just repaired the tank and lock on her and then part exchanged her in!
Overall very pleased!, Just getting some panniers sorted and a set of crash bars!

1150GSA

i got mine from "up north" too - rode it over the humber bridge, down the A1 and straight through central London at night - it was one helll of a "first ride" on such a big bike....good luck with it mate, mine is amazing and just gets better and better..

..and great to fiddle about with and add stuff to without taking it anywhere near a BMW Dealer :bounce1
