R1150 GS Making a Funny Rattle

Hello

Never posted before, my bike has just started making a strange rattle that is mechanical sounding and rhythmic, it does not effect performance.

I have checked the cam change tensioner and its ok.

The sound does not happen when I first start the bike up and it sounds worse under acceleration (as if something is loose and rattling)

Does any one have any ideas ?

Failing that can anyone direct me to a good Independent BMW Garage ? mechanic around Portsmouth, Hampshire ?

Throttle bodies, butterfly shaft wears out and start rattle , there is rebuild kit for that

It's fiddly job , there is rebuild kit and cheaper kit to stop rattle . Check motoworks website.

The throttle bodies don't rattle under acceleration, only at idle when the cable is slack and there's no load on them.

type of fuel?
some fuels (Shell fuel here in Aus) causes my 1150 to sound terrible when acellertiang hard.
worse when the weather is hot

Is the bike fitted with engine bars? Are they broken at one of the mounting points?

+1 For a broken engine bar mounting, especially if they are GSA originals. As to servicing, do yourself a favour and ride up the A3 to Kingston and visit Steptoe*

I turned and left pretty sharpish ... I think upstairs is more expensive than downstairs
