Hi All.

Anyone seen this before?

2001 R1150GS - with the "1st generation" ABS - i.e. it has "Brembo" on the calipers.

All is well - brakes as it should.

Until you exceed 105-110 MPH (on a private road of course).

Then - the ABS trips out - alternate flashing lights.

Turn ignition off, restart, and all is well again until the next excursion above 105-110 MPH.

It started doing this when I fitted 17" front and rear alloys - I put it down to the fact that the wheels were a different size to original - and the ABS probably wouldn't like it. Now that I've returned it to normal (19" front) - it still does it (although at a higher speed).

Only anomaly is that the front ABS ring is the pressed type - rear is cast.
Number of "Teeth" on the rings are the same as original. Sensor gaps are fine, Battery good...

Any clues?

Ta,

Mike.

AH Ballix I Didn't read the whole thing thru i.e. refitted 19 inch wheels,

Please continue to next post!

Move along now please!

Nothing to see here! Move Along! Move Along!

it's actually the pressed ABS ring, very common problem and nothing to do with wheel size -

I've posted about this happening previously when people ask if later wheels and early wheels are the same - Yes they are the same and fit no problem, but you get this ABS problem when using the different ABS rings.

Cheers for that - I was thinking along the same lines - I'll pick up a pressed ring for the rear tomorrow.

Ta,

Mike.

Ahh - yes - I see....
(Was tired when I read your response)

Any ideas on the best way to fix this (that doesn't involve the purchase of a new set of wheels?)

Thanks,

Mike.
