R1150GS Conti Road Attacks

Hi, new to the website having just recently bought a 2003 R1150GS. I am a Scot living in NZ, great place for biking. Road are like the north of Scotland except with the weather. I am based in Auckland and ride all the year round.

I had a Multistrada before the GS1150 and thought it was great but I have never ridden a bike that really does it all. Very impressed.

Just wondering if anyone has used Conti Road Attacks on a GS1150? I used them on the Multistrada and was impressed with feedback.

CRA's on my Adventure since I bought it last summer. They're fine - but I've no baseline to compare them to......Concensus seems to be that Tourances are the road tyre to have

Hi ,I used the Road attacks on my k1200 rs and they were great. I see no reason why they would not do on a GS. Mind you it rather defeats the object. Why not try the Conti escapes. They have a beefier tread for any off road but are extremely capable on the road as well.. Bit like a Tourance but cheaper.

I've had conti trail attacks (basically a road attack for big trailies) and thought they were excellent on the road. You won't get far off-road with them though apart from the odd dry / gravel track in summer.
Conti-escapes are no longer available, they are due to be replaced this summer with another duel purpose tyre.
I've currently got metzeller tourance EXP's on my 1150 and while they feel more neutral than the Conti's most of the time they feel a bit more skittish when you're right on the edge of them (boots on the deck). I'll be going for the conti's again next time.
The original tourance is more of a blocky tread pattern to give better grip in dust/ gravel. It's still not an off-road tyre though. If you're not going to venture far off-road the conti's are great, if you are then you'll either be needing 2 sets of wheels or conti TKC 80's.

I took Tourances off my 1150 cos they slipped sideways once too often, and replaced them with Conti Road Attacks. Bike runs extremely well on them in the dry, very good grip, feel and feedback. Can't say how they perform in the wet though.

Got em on mine, feel completley different from Tourances, but very responsive on the black stuff. I'd buy 'em again

hiya...I,ve fitted conti road attacks to my 1150 gs as I was doing mainly road miles with no off road. ridden them over our very mild but wet winter and it they have not given me any reason to worry so far.Looking forward to the summer so I can get it to lean over a wee bit more!

I fitted road attacks to my 1200GS last summer just before a trip to the Alps. On a variety of roads in a variety or weather, they were superb. More "feel" on the road than Tourances, which are also great. Bridgestone Battlewings are my other favourite tyre - they don't seem to square off so quickly, maybe because of the dual compound business. But for outight grip and confidence, Road Attacks are my favourite.

(I don't ride off-road, so can't comment in that respect.)

I'm new to UKGSer's too, having just bought a '04 1150GSA. This bike had worn out Tourance tyres fitted.
I read a few other forums and opted to use BT020's. I have used these tyres for years on my TL1000S, so I know they're pretty good tyres.
So far, they work great on the GS. Good in the wet or dry.

HAD CONTI ROAD ATTACKS ON MY 1150GS FOR 6 MONTHS THROUGH THE WINTER, I FOUND THEM EXCELLENT IN THE WET. GIVING ME PLENTY OF CONFIDENCE!!

I know that everyones riding style is different, chalk & cheese, but what sort of mileages are you guys getting out of these on your 1150 GS?

I get about 12,000 miles out of a rear Tourance. Mileage counts for me, never had any prblems with Tourances, regarding grip.

12000the best i can do is 9000

Had Distanzia's & Tourances on my 1150GSA. BOth good but liked the Distanzia's more. Now have the CRS pn the 12GS and WOW the are AWSOME for road riding. Very grippy all the way to the wall
