Afternoon All,

I have an ABS fault and my local dealer wants just under £100 to read the fault code!! I have tried the LED method but it doesn't flash............ Does anyone have a reader they could use on my bike or know of any independent guys who would be cheaper? I'm in the Horsham area and happy to bung you some money if you can help :-) Thanks Marc

For those who may be interested.............. Flashing ABS lights. Reset them, cleaned out the plungers, changed the brake fluid and they come back at the same time as the loud clunk when pulling away. I'm guessing ABS sensor or the pump has had it.

Quick update, reset the ABS today and now it doesn't make the loud clunk, it makes a sort of squeak and then the lights come on!

Doesn't sound like you are making much progress on your fault finding, from your original thread on this subject.

If you haven't swopped a packet of Hob Nobs for a fault code readout from Steptoe, then any further fault diagnosis is likely to be by component substitution. That's fine if you have serviceable spares on the shelf, but expensive if you haven't.

The clunk comes from the Modulator. If you arn't getting it, then it's likely something inside is either broken or jammed.

Good luck:thumb2

You can make your own fault code reader with 12V led and two wires.
Use it between pin 2 and battery ground.

Here is some more info

Here are the fault codes

1. front pressure modulator
2. rear pressure modulator
3. front wheel speed sensor
4. rear wheel speed sensor
5. battery voltage too low
6. ABS relay
7. ABS control unit
8. sensor gap front or rear, or other outside influence
9. <unknown, but seems to exist>
16. Failed plunger test, persistent

:rolleyes::rolleyes::rolleyes:

Hi Pekka, that's brilliant thank you! I did try this but all I got was no flashes and just a steady light. Is that what you mean by 'persistent' for fault 16?
