Hi,

What years did / didn't the R1150GS have ABS?

What years was ABS optional as opposed to standard?

What years was ABS servo-assisted as opposed to non-servo-assisted?

I've never ridden a bike with ABS and from what I read and have read, I don't know whether I want it.

IIUC, I might be content with non-servo ABS.

Is there somewhere that I can find a detailed break-down of the different specs for each of the R1150GS models over the years?

I'm looking for the colours it was available in, the above ABS info, weights, capacities (fuel, oil, etc), and other stuff like that.

Thanks,

Mark

This may help with one or two questions.
The 1150 has always had the option of ABS (£750 option).
The servo version arrived in 2002 or 3 i think.Thats the one to avoid IMO but there has always been a non-ABS version available.
The plain ABS is fine but if it fails,it costs big bucks to fix (pump unit) or you can remove it and replumb the pipes with stainless.
A couple of guys on here have done this with no problem (try a search).
My Y2K non-servo ABS feels like a normal braking system, but i am hoping that it should pay for itself by saving my ar5e in slippery/wet conditions.:thumb2

I ordered my 2003 GS with ABS as although I had never had it on a bike I quite fancied it, of course being a 2003 model it is the servo type.
In day to day use you wouldn't know it was there, the brakes are smooth & powerfull and work just fine. I have had the ABS cut in occasionally but this is mostly due to me engineering a situation to make it work just so I can see how it reacts.
On a personal level I am glad i've got it.
