Agreed.

While self amalgamating tape has its uses, I certainly wouldn't use it on wiring harnesses.

Use either the none adhesive PVC tape or cloth tape for the job.... my preference being the former.

When doing for example from under the tank up to the switch gear on the bars, make sure you start at the 'tank end' first, this will ensure the overlaps keep any driving rain/moisture out.
It will probably work fine the other way and it's just the ex Rolls Royce engineer in me over thinking it

I’ve used both types in the past with good results: self-amalgamating tape to keep water out, covered in tesa cloth loom tape to stop it attracting dirt and provide mechanical strength/abrasion resistance and a neater finish.

I did mine with spiral wrap before it completely disintegrated,did the job and was easy to do.

Thats what I used on my bikes. I have another 10m of 8mm arriving soon. Yes that is big enough for most looms on the bike.
