Hi Guys
I am having trouble getting the rear seat on my 1150GS to lock down.
Is there any adjustment I can make?

i just had to install a replacement lock mechanism because of the same thing. the weak plastic bracket the bolt goes through at the rear of the bit housing the barrel had snapped off at some point in the past and had been bodge repaired. result was that when the seat was pushed down to lock, the whole thing moved down and it was unable to latch.

worth checking that out. its not hard to get the lock mech off but you do have to remove the luggage carrier (rack).

OK guys. Got it out, and it's broken. I get my stuff for Sherlocks as he helps pay for the site.
Is it easy to change the locks over?

changing the barrel isn't hard Jim. undo the 2 screws holding the front plastic section around the barrel and unclip the long strip bit that runs forward. make sure you have the key in the lock and look inside, there will still be one lock tab holding it in the casing. it's spring loaded, with a pick or needle push the tab back in to the barrel and the whole thing should slide out. don't remove the key otherwise all the lock tabs will spring out and then you'll have fun getting them all back in the right place :D

I used to have trouble locking my rear seat as well, barrel wasn't broken though.

All I did was added a 3mm spacer under the latch on the seat and now hooks up nicely.

I got the tip from the forum here somewhere.

You might want to check to see if it is broken first before buying a new lock.

I have just done the same.
2 small nuts between the catch under the seat and the seat itself, gave just enough extra length to lock it into the latch.
Finally - already lost my original pillion seat down the A46 somewhere.
New pad is now sitting nicely.

A cheap or necessary fix is cable ties and a hand pushing the lock bar up when you replace seat... Pia weak spot...
