I can't get me seat to come off on the key!

I'm using a Corbin style saddle, and it was a bugger to get the seat to close and lock down; but now it is the key won't turn very far in the barrel and it's like the latch won't clear the ring under the seat far enough to release the passenger seat!

Help!!!

Can I access the mechanism from below? Or should I be pushing down harder on the seat while I turn the key?

Try and get someone to sit on the seat, then see if it'll open..

The latch design is poor and will fail eventually - it sounds like it has on yours. The plastic at the rear of the mechanism cracks where the bolt fits in (bolt 11 in this pic).

When you repair/replace it, always support under the lock barrel when pressing the rear seat home...

Preload Key by turning slightly and then slap the rear of the saddle with flat of your hand

Then when off? space the corbin's seat latch loop further away from the seat base by fitting a couple of washers between loop and saddle base (If the loop comes off like a standard one )

I had tightened up the latch loop last time it was off, I'm guessing that's the cause of my problems now I think about it.
