A long shot on a GS forum, but here goes.
I have noticed that the front brake line on my recently acquired R1150R is too taught (as in MOT failure I reckon) on full left lock. I have discovered that the bike has non standard Wunderlich `Touring Wellness` bars fitted which are about 2" wider and angled back a little. Their website reckons they can be fitted without any mods, but on this evidence I beg to differ. Ideally I would also like to fit some up and back risers. I am hoping that if I re-route the brake line and possible soem other cable outside of the headlamp brackets it will be possible to do this. Anybody done anything similar?

I took the pragmatic way out when I fitted Verholen bar-backs to my 1150R. I got a new stainless top hose from Motorworks, who in turn get them direct from Goodridge, but they specified for me one approx. 1 1/2" longer than standard. Peace of mind really.

I recently fitted Helibar (Tour Performance) risers on my R1150 RT and these provide 1" lift and throw the bars back the same amount. I didn't have any issues with strecthed lines at full lock, although I had some Verhoelen risers on a revious K1200Rs and I definitely needed the longer brake hose from Motorworks with this set-up.

You might get away with re-routing the brake and clutch hoses around the inside of the fork tubes - just drop the tubes out of the top yoke far enough to slide the lines over the top of the fork and behind the fork leg (get a mate to hold the fork tube to stop it falling too far with the weight of the front end...), then slide the fork tube back up and clamp everything up. This will give you maybe just enough length to allow full lock. It'll cost you nothing to try.

I just swapped the RT for a 1200GS so the 'ridden once' Helibars are now on eBay awaiting a good home...

You can`t do your method with an R due to the headlamp brackets I am afraid.

Well, I had a farkling good morning.
Routing the cables outside the headlamp brackets did the trick.
I also fitted the new Baglux tank cover and it was a superb fit as usual.
Took it for a test ride and the ergos are now cock on!:thumb2
