So, any issues with the standard exhaust? Asking for a friend. Presumably a bit to quiet? Anyone got an aftermarket can yet? I like Akras but not funny shaped ones like they designed for the new G/S. Not seen it in the flesh but imagine the Akra can be debaffled fairly easily like other versions. Something short and round should do the trick but not seen anything out there yet, have you?

I thought the standard pipe was alright and I normally replace them. May not be worth the outlay.

With hindsight I would have probably stuck with the stock end can , the Akra does look better and is quite a bit lighter but is expensive

I got the black widow headers and had the GPR end can. Sounded very raspy.
Fitted the original can and it sounds much better. A deep tone that doesn't drone on the motorway. I'd know as I've done 3k miles touring in Spain.

you know when you are getting old .. when you are happy with the stock can because it's 'nice and peaceful' .. which is exactly where I found myself the other day while out and about

Rather like the look of the Unit can, though ..

Anyone seen any replacements for the vast collector box?

Standard end can and de-cat headers will be the direction I go once i collect mine at the weekend..

I've got to get a test ride on one of these. i fancy a change from my Africa twin, especially the enduro version, as I like a taller bike.

Hmm, if any of you have swapped out your standard exhaust muffler for an Akra and want to get rid of your original please give me a shout? 🙂👍

I put decat headers on my Twin Cam GSA and soon changed them back. The bike felt more vibey and lost low down torque according to my arse dyno. Soon changed back to standard headers with Akro end can.

I know this motor has a vastly superior ECU but I wonder if the same applies.

The standard isn't loud, but it's not a characterless thing by any means. It's neat too.

I once fitted an (expensive) full system to a GS. It never ran right once above 1000 m altitude.

Don’t waste your money is my advice.
