Interestingly, the Arrow high level is smaller than the low level for some reason? 
Has anyone tried the Unit Garage short pipe?
It does look good and gives you an option for equal sized panniers that don’t stick out too far.
Yes, exactly my thoughts....Just don't know what the sound would be like. I've ordered a 12G/S for delivery in March, specced the Akra headers, but not sure whether to stick with the stock end can or go for something different. The idea of close fitting, symmetrical panniers is very appealing!
My experience with Akropovic headers and an aftermarket end can on a R9t ( no flapper valve) is that it’s quite noisy, in case that’s a concern for you.
Good to know, thanks Paul. Noisy is OK, just wondering if the Unit short exhaust would make it too raspy? I guess either I'll wait for someone who's tried it to comment, or else bite the bullet and get one to try.

BMW do not (to my knowledge) sell Akra headers for the R12G/S and they are not an option on the BMW configurator , it's just the end can which is what I have fitted
Can you elaborate ? I know they are available from various outlets (Pier City Customs in UK sell them)

I was surprised too! I'm returning to BMW after a few years with Ducati and went into my local dealer near Gent in Belgium. I had a test ride, placed the order and was talking accessories with the sales guy. It turns out that (in Belgium anyway) that you can spec whatever accessories you want from Akrapovic, Wunderlich, SW Moto, Unit Garage etc etc and they will order them for you and fit to the bike pre-delivery. the website price is what you pay and, in my case, I was able to negotiate free fitting. This never happened previously when I have ordered bikes at BMW, they must have a deal with the accessories companies.
Interesting , as you say they don'y usually do that , will be interesting how they deal with any future warranty claims as BMW normally kick them out if there are aftermarket parts fitted
Fitted my akrapovic titanium headers to my r12g/s makes a difference ok as I thought not to loud either
Only issue is my enduro skid plate won’t fit back on bike now so going to check out alternative's

Isn't that strange that a company like Akra would design headers for the GS but not consider the fitment of the sump guard which is almost certainly fitted to 99% of this model. That's an instant loss of potential G/S customers. Derrrr
Oh, that's interesting....I've ordered the Akra headers and Wunderlich bash plate for my (march delivery) G/S. Please let us know how you get on with sourcing a bash plate to fit with the headers.
