hi my name is tom,
i have just bought myself a HID kit for my bmw and have fitted but i now have a (lampf) on the screen is there anyone out there that has had this problem and has fixed it if so could you plz send me a e-mail on or reply to this thread, thanks for all your help TOM.....

Greetings Minimad, yes my 'lamp service' light pops on occasionally. Only happens on full-beam. Tiny glitch that i live with. I just turn main beam off & on again, i think its the current draw. However i do make sure bike is running before engaging full-beam (doubt you didn't do this but someone on here did, and replaced hid-bulb to find same issue).

Hi Tom and welcome to the site.

What spec are your HIDs? Are they 50w or 35w.
The 09 1200GS will doesn’t like anything less than 50w H7’s fitted to High and/or Low beams.
However, you can fit 35w HIDs in the Aux lights though.

You have 35w HIDs fitted to to High/low beam?

I tried running a 35w HID in my low beam and got the Lampf. Then i was told that the 09 GSA had to have 50w due to the fussy Canbus on these models, so thats what i fitted.

I have 35w HIDs in my aux lights though.

I used to have a 35watt HID on the dip beam of my '08 GSA. I would get Lampf errors occassionally until one day the whole thing packed up. So I fitted 50 watt HID's to both dip & main and since then no problems whatsoever. I have just fitted 35 watt HID's to the Aux lights - again, no problem so far. I tend to think there is an issue there with current draw as Yonko says, the canbus is expecting a 50 watt draw not 35 watt. I stand to be corrected of course.
