R1200 GSA LC : Annoying 'Wonderwheel'

Does anyone else get utterly frustrated when they look down at the Sat-Nav only to realise that yet again they've knocked the wonderwheel and it is shown my tyre pressures, or engine temp, or....... some other fairly interesting fact, but entirely not helpful when you've just approached a multi-exit roundabout !!

Is there a way of locking the Sav-Nav to a screen ? (I have the 5) or is this frustration a universal thing ?

I’m guessing you don’t have a bike with a TFT? They helpfully solved this problem by allowing you to lock the wheel to the display or Nav. It used to happen all the time with my previous GSes.

Yep do it all the time.

Got to be honest though, ive never checked my Nav6 to see if there is an option to lock it?
i just twist it back.

Mine does it too , twist it back as Barnoe says , think ill stick with the Gs rather than the jelly mold ...

You can remove grip wonderwheel and put grip with no wonderwheel, and use buttons with Nav5.

Yes it does (for me). It’s just the 4-button nav mount.

In my early days of GS ownership I got into a roundabout, looked at the Satan’s device for directions only to find that when I had indicated I knock the the wheel and had lost the map, had to go round the roundabout twice before I figured out how to get the map back, it is no good trying to listen to spoken directions when your wife is yelling in your ear “what are you fu*#ing playing at”. I now use my Garmin 660 which is exactly like the BMW Nav5, that solves the problem.

Feck me, there are some clumsy, cackhanded feckers, struggling with riding a motorcycle in the 21st century. Thank feck you never had to cope with the challenge of having the right and left turn indicators on the right and left bars All this technology and rider aids is ruining your lives

Might be just my experience, but the WW on my 2021 GS is much stiffer than the one on my 2017 model, from new. That could simply be a manufacturing variation or something that's intentional - any others found the same?

Didn't cause too much of an issue on the 2017, mind, with just the occasional unintended movement of the wheel.

I love the wizzy wheel, yes I sometimes knock it and change the screen, I don't find it annoying as the benefits far outweigh this one small thing. When I go off piste I never recalculate as that can send you on a right old mystery tour, just spin that wheel, zoom out and ride towards your intended route.
