ABS has saved my bacon in the wet = safer bike.
Higher riding position = better visibility
big bike = more likely to be seen. Car drivers see you earlier than on a sportsbike.

I consider my 12GS to be a much safer bike than the RSV-R, or the Vespa (which takes 3x the distance to stop from 30mph)
