Hi all 👋
My Right fork seal is blown going to replace seals on both legs.
I’ve searched but struggling to find capacity and weight of oil 🤔
can anybody inform me please. 🙏

thanks
Mike W

The haynes manual says 485ml of 10w and an oil level of 135mm.
Its not really that critical, there is no damping cartridge in the fork.

I thought I had a blown seal on the right hand fork leg of my old 06 GSA

It turned out to be a bit of crap between the seal & stanchion which I removed by slipping a feeler gauge between the two :thumby:
Thanks for reply but have tried this with no luck 😬

Cheers stu I realise there’s no damping as such I just want to get the job right.

I've got the factory manual on DVD that they will no longer sell to customers.

It says: Capacity approx. 485 ml
Fork oil fill level measured from the top edge 135 mm +/- 2mm
Telescopic fork oil "Telescopic fork oil type1" BMW p/n 31 42 9 062 158

You might check with a BMW parts store to see if you can find out more about the fork oil. I agree with poster MS30SJM - it probably doesn/t matter what weight fork oil you use as these forks don't do any damping, just sliding up and down.

Or ... Depending on the miles that the bike has done, get the whole thing serviced by denz0 on here.
