:D

Yes, it was fun learning to use my newly bought VholdR Contour HD cam.
Only thing is the editing was a pain. Need a faster PC to work with semi-HD footage. Will get an upgrade in January, so expect new stuff on my channel in Q2 2010.

My first point is:
Is there a better way to see the world, better than any other motorcycle, better then a bicycle, better than a Ferarri? A GS is better than walking for sightseeing.
My second point:
What a camera as soon as i saw this footage i bought one.

Thanks for posting:thumb

was in Amsterdam a couple of weekends and recognise where we stayed and a few cafes we frequented - nice footage!:D

You'all come 'n visit A'dam again soon, y'hear ? :D

Got my GSA back today with a set of Xenon (HID) lights, so hope to get to A'dam again soon with my cam. The city has many different sights, also in the north above the IJ channel. Somebody already requested me to shoot the north side next time too. So, stay tuned to my channel on Youtube. :cool mychannel

That is the clearest helmet cam vid that I have seen on this site! I want one !:thumb2

1080p

Actually there is a new VholdR out now. Mine is supposed to be 720p. Newest one is FullHD (1080p). The one I have is fine as it is for now, will swap after a couple of years to the full hd version (when sound recording is improved).:D

Hi my dear wife was just asking me what i would really lik efor X-MAS and I think you may have given me a idea,

which model do you recomend ? I have lots of speed and a seperate hard drive, I can store dvd onto.
whats your recomendations and why...........?

cheers Big D:)

I'm impressed, very good quality. Just out of interest how much does it cost and what other bits do you need? I'm a bit of a novice regarding the lastest camera kit.

If you are impressed with the quality of my vid, at the beginning of this thread, you will probably start drooling if confronted with the newest version.
The 1080p has a better image quality, but more importantly what I found out today, it has adjustable noise settings. (Like wind cut etc.) This increases the value for me.
UK also sells the cams, just googled:
http://www.actioncameras.co.uk/Contour_HD_1080p_Helmet_Camera_from_VholdR
Since the 1080p is pretty much complete, you will need no accessories. Perhaps you would like a mount for your handlebar to fix the cam onto, instead of your helmet.

The goggle mount was already included. I did get an offroad helmet (Airoh S4 and Madhead goggles, just perfect !), so I could attach the cam in the most ideal way.

One hint: Never use the mount that requires you to attach the cam to your helmet with a sticky foot. You will lose it. Use the goggle mount.

I considered other cams too, but I wanted something not too large, good image quality and maybe I did fancy those lasers for setting the correct shooting angle. :D

See an interesting video below that I found on Youtube, comparing the vholdr contour hd (mine) with the newest 1080p.

My 1080P arrived today 2 working days delivery to ireland.
What a piece of kit. No faffing about just take out of the box put in the battery and use.
Its tiny and the quality is staggering. you need a high end computer for editing.

Congrats, you lucky B%$#rd ! :D
Yes, I noticed my old 2003 Pentium 4 - 3.2Ghz does not agree with the video material and editing software. I will have to get a quad core in january, probably with 1 TB of disk space. Monitor is going out of the window too. Want one of these new 24 inch lcd's.

That spoils the looking around shots if you mount it on bars, plus youget better vision from the helmet mount so I am going to risk the sticky mount!:augie
I have read of some guys drilling their lids????????

I am still struggling for good video editor/sofwear?

Big D:)

Geeza, good quality filum.

One tip. When 'On-road' mount the camera to the bike, not your noddle. You will then avoid:

(a) All the whizzaround shots when you go looking to the left / right to see if it is safe to pull out.

(b) The seasick-making effect when you lean the bike but (as is natural) you keep your head level with the horizon.

The reverse is true when you ride 'Off-road'. Then mount the camera to your helmet. It means the camera will follow the rutted track better and your body will act as a suspension unit, damping out the jolts and bumps.

OK, it's not Amsterdam, but here is another vholdr lnk
This time HK and again stunning clarity:

I use AVS Video editor 4 (free). Other option is using a free video converter like Any Video Converter to convert to a different format HQ file that MS Windows Movie Maker accepts. (No MOV files !)

i know those streets, lived 2 yr in amsterdam, a braver man than me to go that fast on some of those streets:eek:D
