R1200GS Adventure pannier inner bags

Mine were £207-00 for the three inner bags.

Well, I managed to get a pair of BMW side pannier bags for free as part of my deal for a new R1200GSA when I p/x my old R1150GSA! :bounce1 However the dealer did have my old bags to sell with my old R1150GSA!

I have always bought the BMW inner bags to go with their panniers - and always thought they were on the expensive side for what they were - BUT, the inner bags just make so much sense and of course you know the BMW ones are going to fit.................Well, I just got the BMW bags to go inside my new aluminium Adventure panniers - VERY impressed, if you were thinknig about getting them - think no longer. They are a serious bit of gear, waterproof zips, fabric and construction seems to be the same as Ortlieb. Top quality fittings and superb construction. They even have the option of mounting on top of the panniers in case you need to get more gear inside. I'll say it again - VERY impressed!

I agree for I have them too. However I miss inner pockets that the old R1150GSA have! The old bags are not 100% waterproof but the new ones are. What is brilliant about the new ones is that they can be lashed externally on top of pannier cases giving extra 82 litres of storage for something else inside pannier cases and still don't worry about wet weather on the bags outside!:)

These E73 are "only" 30Litre (480x180x330mm) of vollym. The original alu sidepannier are 38litre and 44litre?
Are someone willing measureing the dimension of the original alu sidepannier?
Best regards, Kincop

Internal measurements of the GSA panniers not taking into account the lid space, the angled corners or the offset on the left hand pannier are:

Right 432 x 267 x 318

Left 432 x 203 x 318

I know its rude to ask, but how much are they in the UK?
Thanks
Jim

Mine where free as I couldnt see why I should have to pay for something that the dealer was advising me I "must have" or else I'll end up with aliminium rubbing off on anything I was carrying.

I've got to be honest I think they are superb value for money too :aidan

GSA Pannier Inners

I got the Mane Event one's , have always had BMW ones on previous bikes but the ME one's are really good quality , fit well , and at just under £100 for the 3 bags are good value .

Bin bags are too big - I find asda/sainsbury/tesco bags a better size.
Better still are the ones you get from the bike show, better quality and appropriate logos.
At a pinch I'll use some that the wife gets when she goes shopping, again better quality, but inappropriate logos.

After reading these threads, I got the GS12ADV main event bags , they look good and I like the way the bags have double zips in the tops to aid filling or access..

does anyone know if the mane event bags are waterproof? tried calling them but just get answer machine:(

Original GSA inner bags are beautifully made but way over the top for occasional weekends or holiday use. I use my old K1200LT inner bags which fit perefectlIy and are really good quality.

I have a pair, unused, of genuine GSA inners if somenoe wants to make me an offer I may be tempted to sell :nenau

I am very seriously interested in buying them.:clap

since field testing my panniers for 300 miles in the pissing rain today, i can recommend that whatever you get, make sure they're waterproof as both panniers & top box leaked water

I started this thread a few weeks ago simply to comment haw pleased I am with the BMW Adventure inner bags - I see a lot of folks are talking about alternatives............cheaper I guess? Sure the BMW bags are expensive - always have been - but in the past all you got was a well fitting ok made bag - these however are AMAZING - they are simply so superbly made with some real neat features like the ability to be attached to the top of the lids so that you can pack more extra gear inside. They are definately waterproof and made of the same supertough material that Ortlieb use (I bought my first Ortlieb bag in 1990 and have used and abused it since). The quality of construction is first class!
Anyway - got to go now and get some sleep. The I'll be packing my bags for an early departure to Northern Maine.

Reviving an old thread....I was looking for info on cheaper alternatives to the BMW inner bags.

People say an advantage of the BMW bags is you can mount them on top of the case and put extra stuff in the case itself. But in theory at least the case will only take 10kg. I haven't really tried it but do you hit the space or the weight limit first? Or do people just ignore the weight limit? Just how much luggage can you get on a GSA with 2 people (safely!)?
