considering a 1200gs after selling the ktm.

be used for commuting and keep the drz400e for trail riding.

anything to watch out for?

seem to be some nice 2009 models around with the rear flange recall done and low miles.

newer ones with twin cams seems be lot higher in price

Few seen are in ireland around 8-9k euro

Still thats well at top end my limit

BMW GS R1200 ADV

Basically the later the better. 2008-9 had significant updates over earlier models. 2010 twin cams had power, gearbox and ESA upgrades as well as an attempt to make the final drive last longer....with mixed results. Rear shocks will go at some stage....about 30k but can be fixed for about £150. If the FD does go, cost about £400 to mend.

Other than that, go on condition rather than mileage. I have seen pristine 70k bikes and shockers at 15k. A good 2009 with an AF XEID fuel map gizmo will be a great bike. Personally, IF you can find a non ESA one, go for that and use the saving over the ESA version to replace the shocks with Wilbers.....best riding and handling GSA I had.

like the 3rd bike in your links John

Seen that gs, just i like the adv more, be honest if looks over practicality

The 3rd red bike looks very clean be my choice to view 1st

That said I'd rather no gizmos an fit wilbers

For me it would be the middle ad.

It's the only TC of the three and it also looks mint.

Having never owned and only having test ridden air cooled GSs, I could not get the attraction, however after trying a water cooled GSA I knew straight away it was for me.

I tried a WC for the first time last week and although it is obviously a more modern, more powerful bike........I did not get the "I must upgrade to one of these" feeling. My bank account is safe for another year or two!!

Mark in Platinum Motorcycles Bray told me that 2010 onwards were the most sorted and only one to buy if you can afford them. That third bike is a 2009 model on a 2011 plate ??? So be careful. But call Mark, he is a mine of information and may have one for sale as well.

Get a 2010 onward TC model , no poxy fuel strip to go wrong, they seemed to have got the FPC sorted out and as always with a BMW buy the latest possible of an established model and never never never buy from the first year or two of a new models production.

Do not be sucked in by ESA/ABS etc (more stuff to go wrong) , make sure it has heated grips, on board computer is nice as is luggage , spots and aftermarket shocks then go play

That middle ad, the yellow one comes complete with full luggage and looks well minded. If you could get the price down closer to a number starting with 9 it could be a great yoke.

If cash wasn't issue it be ktm 1190r

Sold 950, regret it but while have chance was thinking buy bike not had yet, had 1100 1150 850 not a 1200

Like look and riding position of adv

Abs is only gizmo I'd like so long not servo

So genuine 2010 up

If you get a late 2007 onwards it should have the newer ABSII

2008/2009 is the face lifted model. TC style but older SC engine.
I think the ABS is well worth having. I could live without ESA but I like that as well.
Every pre 2008 I've seen looked to have pretty solid paint. The 2010 on also seems to hold up. My 2008 and my brother's have both suffered with frame paint failing.

Must admit, I'm on my 3rd GSA, an 09, 11 and now a 63 plate Triple Black. I like my gadgets so I knew exactly what I wanted, one of the last pre LC's with everything apart from an alarm. she drives like a tractor but has so much character.
