At 6'4" I hope its tall which will make it even more exclusive as you vertically challenged people will be out of the frame.

count too many vertically challenged people out of the equation then it will not sell and therefore not be economic to produce, I think BMW are bound to look at the figures and the success of the GS12 they ain't gonna change it too much .

Whatever I say is a waste of time, for the specs will undoubtedly have been fixed yonks ago, but what we want is an 'out of the box' all-rounder that can go on rough roads in strange places.

It's interesting to read in their book just how much work Ewan and Charlie had to do to the stock R1150 GS Adventure bikes before departing. I mean, the bikes don't even have a wide side stand foot!!!

I can't see much point in the higher suspension, I would have thought ability to run on unleaded petrol comes higher than this. It's a real pain to have to customise the bikes to come up with what BMW should have designed from the start.

ADV suspension

Hi all.

I found my ADV suspension to low. I had the BMW units made 60mm longer. when the bike was used off road with luggage the belly of the bike kept hitting the floor, and yes they were at max pre load.

The ADV is a bike designed for for all sorts of shit roads. If the bike were lower it would be a liablility in the terrain it was designed to conquer.

Im 5-10, i am tip toes on both feet, or flat on one foot.(on the bike).

Roll on the1200 ADV:D :D :D :D

I can see some advantage in lifting the cylinder heads higher for when one is in deep ruts, but how do you manage to hit the sump protector on an Adventure? Could you explain some more?

Oh, the one bit of "firm info" from the dealer is that the 1200Adv will have a 33-litre tank. So far I've hear from various sources 31, 32, 33 and 34.

Decisions, Decisions........

So what's a bloke to do? Do I keep my 1400 mile 1200 mint condition, and just about to order various TT part inlcuding luggage or do I wait until this baby comes out and swap it?

Man BMW know just who too kick you in the nuts....

I'm in the same boat as you Nik...trade in or hold onto my GS1200 after spending a firtune on accessories...?

The problem is that you sell everything for significantly less than you paid for it ...and then replace it all on the new bike...! No doubt none of the bits will fit anyway...!

Also understand that it has protection bars all around the tank. Looks like it is going to be very much an off-road/round the world touring bike with no road compromise...

K1200R as an alternate???
