I may have to change the left hand cylinder head on my r200gs.
I'm sure there must be previous posts on the subject but I can find them.

Anyway my question to the more enlightened members is what are the pit falls of a head change, is there any thing to watch out for or is it relatively staight forward. I have had a look at the Haynes but thats as far as Ive got so far.

All advice gratefully received !!!

Can I ask why you think you need to change it?

I had occaision to remove the front pipes and noticed that one of the manifold studs was different from the rest.
On further investigation I discovered that this stud was able to move sideways !!! the reason being I think that sometime in the bikes lifetime ( reg 2004) it has taken a knock in the corner of the manifold and broken a small piece of the retaining metal around the manifold screw, some one has done a bodge and although it seems to hold I'm not happy with it.
My options are to take the head off and have an alluminium build up weld and retap it or find a decent used head and change it.
