I have one of Les's custom made brackets going spare if anyone wants it for a tenner plus postage. Used but perfectly good. Not trying to take custom from Les of course but its gathering dust in the garage.

No problem Brian, you can have a nice shinny one for the GSA :D

2010 R1200GS VVME 35W 4300K install, standard ballast, lo-beam only

I do like the location of the ballast, wires were long enough however the feed power cable (black-minus/blue-positive) to the ballast from the lo-beam headlight plug could have been a few inches longer, I will extend later.
I first tried the front faring mounting location however I didn't like the little room it left for steering to clear...slim ballast would have made things easier however for lo-beam only and standard ballast this "Charcoal canister on US bikes" location worked perfectly fine for me.

hid50.com 35W Slim Ballast mounting

VVME was crap, didn't work, replaced with hid50.com 35W ballast.
Removed the side panels and front peak, mounted the ballast on the outside of the oil line holding bracket using different size zip-ties.
Unfortunately the holes on the ballast are a bit small, don't like the small zip ties, would drill them out just a little bit using one
size up zip ties. The small ones are too flimsy.
