R1200GS Late 09

Hi all,

I am very new to the forum, so I might need your help.

I am giving in my 07 F800ST for a used 07/09 R1200GS (Full extra - 19000Km ).

The bike looks like new and clean, and my mechanic checked it and said that is a very good bike.

Are 09 R1200GS bikes any relaiable at all; From what I read I feel already scared!!!!

I would like to have some opinion from 2009 R1200GS owners.

welcome I had a 09 1200gsa and in 17,000 miles almost 30,000 km 1 head lamp bulb is all that went wrong. JJH

08GS 5k, it had a flat tyre

09GSA 11k, it had a flat tyre and a bulb blow

10GSA 375 miles, nothing

Don't worry about all the negative posts you read on here. You will very rarely hear from owners you ride 1000's of trouble free miles and the huge majority don't have an issue.

I's lots of bits of metal nailed together so some things on some bikes are bound to go wrong but in most cases they don't.

Buy it, enjoy it and ride with confidence

You obviously have a flat tyre issue and I'm now worried Is there a recall? Is it comon on 1200's or do 11**'s suffer this same issue? Is it covered under warranty? Is the bike fit for purpose?

I'm on to BuMW customer services 1st thing on Monday and I WANT ANSWERS!!!

2 headlight bulbs, 1 rear puncture 4 days before pre-booked tyre replacement

Headlight bulbs.....that's nothing......I had 3 changed on my ST so far.....it is normal since yhe bulb is on day and night.

Thanks all for your reply....it helps alot.

My mechanic told me not to worry at all and just enjoy the new bike.

59 plate 1200GS: 7,700 faultless miles in 51 weeks and then all of a sudden a headlight bulb blows and then three days later, the tax runs out. Damn thing'll need new tyres soon 'cos they're almost worn out too.
