R1200GS Wunderlich Lights

Has anyone bought a set of the wunderlich illuminator lights yet? Pic on their UK site isn't great...I'd like some aux lights and they seem easy enough to fit...

I saw them on 1 bike last week. I am not convinced. My english is not that good but I will try to explain what I felt when I saw the wunderlich lights in action : they "flood" the light around the front of the bike, they are not focused enough and do not carry the light far enough for my taste.
On the other hand, it seems that the owner was VERY happy with his lights and frankly, the look of the lights on the bike is wicked cool...

Xenon and Fog lights from Touratech

Had the Xenon nlight fitted and it's wired into the high beam switch.
Had the fog light fitted and that is on a separate switch.
I can tell you that having just returned from Germany, I had freezing fog, the darkness of the Black Forest and plenty of night riding and those lights made all the difference.
Can't imagine life without them!!

Something that surprises me :
Why can't I find a supplier able to provide the whole thing in one set ? I mean, the bar, the light, the switch, everything nicely packaged ?

I would love to say to one supplier : I want the light bar, 2 HID, 2 fogs, switches, documentation (in English please) how much ?
Nope, except for TT or Wunderlich, I have to shop around...

Am I missing something ?

Couple of Halford spots circa 30quid

Bit of square bar to mount them on

Wire the relay to the main beam

Replace the standard bulbs with Philips 50% plus

Job done

Better still, fix a date so they can slot mechanics time in and get it fitted there too. Can't say easier than that.

I spoke to Prestige today and asked them to get me a set of the Wunderlich lights - will let you all know how I get on...

just can't come to grips with an hid on one side and a fog light on the other that burns at different times....

Me either. I want a pair of each, switchable so I can have one or both sets on as I choose...

i want something that runs all the time {that the electrical system will support} and then an hid or something else for when your on that deserted road.

I thought the Wunderlich were both on together set to high beam?

i've been wrong many times before but it has been explained to me that the fog goes on one side and the hid on the other; one works with low beam the other with the high beam. also if you put the dual hid's on you have no reserve charging ie the alternator only puts out enough to burn them and run the other factory stuff, no reserve for charging

What I dont get is that these HIDS only draw about 35w, not even as much as a standard set of fogs

the builb draws 35 watts but the transformer still has a draw; don't know what the draw is but i know it's less than what it takes to fire the lights up

Me too, brought home to me last night after taking an "extra-urban" detour home through the forest! I'm not looking to bolt on auxillaries and Nippy Norman did hint that he's be doing a HID conversion for the 12gs soon.

Anyone heard anything? Must give him a call.....................
