R1200GSA bags for on top of aluminium panniers

Blimey - I designed and started manufacturing the bags after some requests............ however there did not seem to be a huge interest.

I've been trying to have the bags resurrected here in RSA.... if you haven't come right by the end of July - we're back in the UK and I could bring a set or two over....

Here's a pic of the prototype on my bike.... I have however decreased the height by 50mm but the bag is extendable to get more height if needed. We also played with a quick release industrial velcro attachment due to the fact that the bags should be easy enough for you to remove if needed - yet strong enough to handle staying on at high speed or even a fall.........

Anyone tell me where i can get a set of the bags that clip onto the top of the Aluminium panniers that are fitted as standard on my 2012 GSA?? Something similar to this......

Try the Touratech catalogue / Nippy Norman..... Or the Adventure Bike Shop, themselves I guess.

Put plastic bag in if you think they'll leak, which they probably will.

Kriega US-20s work very well....

US-30s fit as well. Depends how big you need :nenau

what about the genuine BMW bags that are totally waterproof and come with straps that fit right on the panniers?

I thought the BMW pannier linings are designed to come out and sit on top of the panniers when you need more space?

Roll bags job done, these expand to about three times the size seen in the pic - cheap too :thumb

They look like podsacs... if so they are very good but quite thin, not sure I would want them on top like that.

I've also used the Kriega US-10 bags on top of panniers and they're very good too.

The eBay search showed found lightweight waterproof nylon types and thicker vinyl types with welded seams. All at very reasonable costs.

So the upshot OP is that you can strap just about any bag or box you like onto the Spam tins. Individuals will all have their preference so, in that at least they are just like tyres, gloves, helmets and routes to Tesco. Find somethingwhat'll suit you best, if it's not the example given in your opening post.

Want free straps to strap with? Your local BMW dealership will give you lots of straps for nothing. Which ones? The ones used to tie down the awsome steeds in their crates for shipment from Germany. Too long? Don't worry, cut them to suit but not forgetting to seal the freshly end off with a flame or they may well fray.

Overboard have 30% off dry bags with code OBTUBE30 until the end of June if that helps. NB they add VAT and delivery at the end so they're not as cheap as they first appear!

Just make sure you wipe the flame out with a rag and not your bare fingers ;)

My pile of Aldi bungees have for years done all the tying down I ever need.

The other day I had 4ft of 3 x 3 timber, a chain saw and a hand saw tied across the pillion base with the same bungees. Theres was a load of other DIY stuff in the side cases including a DeWalt 18V drill in its case. Who needs a car?
