For some reason my electronic steering lock isn't working.

A red flashing ikon is all I get in the top right hand corner of the old analogue instrument cluster.

Any ideas?

Is it trying to work? Is there any noise as it tries and fails? Are the bars turned sufficiently to allow it to function? Although I can’t remember if that would generate a red triangle. JJH

from experience, the red flashing icon is lit when the bike is looking for the key fob....i'm taking it the fob is within a metre of the bike when you try to engage the lock ? if so, it might be the battery in the fob itself . It only works when turned one way as well.

No noise, just flashing ikon

Yeah, that's what I suspected. But it starts the bike ok??

I'll change the battery in keyfob to be on the safe side

Why would the keyfob battery be to blame for the steering lock not working?

once the engine is turned off, you turn it one way or the other and apply the steering lock by holding the stop start button until you hear the lock engage.

if the kombi lights up when you press the plipper , then unlocking should be automatic, as it's controlled by the bike not the plipper ?

The red flash he describes is a symptom of the fob battery.
That said, I often have to clear a “conditions for locking not met” message from the memory at service time. I think it mostly means the bars weren’t turned enough.

When the battery in my fob failed / was not powerful enough, the red triangle flashed and the steering couldn't be locked on or off. Its the key fob battery.
