Hi

newbie to site here so please be gentle . Having recently recovered from a tumble on my 06 GSA the insurance has now all been settled and I have a small pot available to repair the old girl . The insurance company wrote her off with what is essentially a knackered front wheel , engine and crash bar scrapes and broken left pannier plus dent to exhaust and an few other minor bits , needless to say the old girl is stating with me and is going to get fixed up . I have sourced a front wheel ( like hens teeth ) and most of the other bits but need advice on where to get hold of spares for the pannier , I need a set of corners and a new latch set as the pin flew off and is missing . I think I can then pull it all back into shape , If anyone knows of where I can get a set f corners or a damaged pannier that I can canabalise I would be grateful .

I also have a full set of spare locks (4) and keys for the panniers if anyone can use them ( reasonable offers accepted ) and a used rear wheel in fair condition ( can send pics if needed ) for sale , reasonable offers accepted.

Am going to get the engine and crash bars repaired and powder coated in a different colour to standard as now she is a cat D he will be staying with me for a long while , has anyone got any pics of anything similar

Thx in anticipation

Is it worth getting the old damaged front wheel repaired by Devon Rim Company or similar as a spare?

Maybe check MaxBMW site fiche for available pannier parts via online fiche?

Once I have a day off, Wednesday I believe, I'll send you some pictures of 2 panniers I've got. Both LH but one has been down road (knocked off from the back by another rider) and the other one is ebay mistake because of the condition of it. I have kept my panniers in very good condition thus the 2nd hand one didn't get fitted and I ended up buying a new one to match the original pannier in looks. You can have them both if you fancy. We can talk via pm about price and postage.

Thanks

The front wheel was a total wreck , it took the full force of the crash and me being pillock pulled on the bars and as a result the bars twisted and the bike pivoted on the front wheel almost like a ballet dancer, frame , forkes and everything else ok but the spokes were ripped out of the hub and only half the spokes left intact one of the reasons the insurance company wrote it off was that no one would pick it up without 2 men to lift it or a winch to put in a van , I had busted ribs so couldnt help , will post some pics of the wheel once I have got it off this weekend

thanks - sounds promising

Check the fork legs are ok. Even a slow tumble can cause damage wher the exit the bottom steering yoke.

Wheel builder Kev Blurton in Derby also does GSA wheels. He cuts the price if he gets the rim and hub already stripped because the spokes can jam into the rim. I'm planning to have my hubs powder coated to sort out the under-paint corrosion.

am looking at getting the new wheels powder coated plus the rear subframe as its got a bit of surface grot on it , crash bars going to get a makeover as well.

Forks seem ok , hopefully putting the front end back together at the weekend to make sure , got someone to check it over before she goes for MOT in next 2 weeks :thumby:
