R1200GSA Ring Antena

Off to Morroco in Oct. I have heard that there has been a problem over the years with the ring antena / key reader on some GS bikes. mine is a 2011 GSA.
Has anyone experienced a problem with the newer GS bikes?
Is it worth buying a spare to carry with me?
Is there a work around if it fails?

As far as I'm aware i think the ring antenna was fixed from 08/09 bikes onwards but I'm sure someone will come along and give you a better answer...

there was a recall for some, but not all of the earlier bikes.

i hardly ever hear of one failing these days.

I've an '06 gsa and also off to Morocco in sept/oct and i'll be taking a spare just in case, tempting fate?
