R1200GSA TE ordered

What was the cost to change, out of interest? I'll be ordering a new one around August time. PM me if you prefer.:thumb

Does anyone keep a modern BMW out of warranty these days ?
I guess it's a clever ruse by BMW to make unreliable bikes that some people still must own,and will invariably part ex for a new one every 2 years.........

Ive seen some older GS's and RTs with 100k miles, but personally id run with the extended warranty as long as possible.

Superb mate, nothing like getting a new bike, being brand new or not.

I feel such a fool running my 2010 TC for the passed three years and never had the extended warranty...........

Then again I ride it everyday and apart from services, tyres and free BMW recalls have have not had any issues. I'm guessing I have saved about £1,000 :augie

I bought it privately and have had it serviced by an indie. The only time it has gone to the dealers was twice when it required a recall and they gave me a free loan bike.

Am I missing something or should I have been pissing my money up the wall every few years?

You will be safe with a 2010 TC, probably the best they made.

It might just be me but as bikes are getting more hi tech the more nervous you get of not having a warranty.

I would love to have a spanking new triple black GS but cannot afford one. So in the meantime I'll just be bitter and jealous :green gri

Maybe in a few years when the mortgage is finished.

My mortgage payments are so low with the interest rate as it is I have been able to buy a new bike :-)

People said that in 2010 too!

Cannons have red and ocean blue in stock ready to go! Well they did yesterday morning!

I wonder how many new purchases are cash vs traditional HP vs PCP? Dealers push PCP as the low monthly payment is almost universally affordable - even if the final lump sum isn't ;)

Mine,s was cash.
A few things fell into place.
Big 50. the other halves agreement.
Never had the chance or income to be able to afford something new before.
Never did or like credit cards . if i couldn't afford it i didn't buy it.
The only thing i owe is the mortgage.
ive got it on extended warranty myself and its been faultless.

But seeing how easy the pcp thing is now and the trade in price dropped for my 2013 because of so many getting traded in.
I think i will just wait until a year or two old lowered GSA becomes available

I seem to remember an article in MCN last year where they had got hold of some data that said over 80% of new reg bikes were PCP or HP. I'll try and dig it up.

As many others have pointed out previously, without these schemes to aid new sales there wouldn't been anywhere near as many bikes on the used market...and they would be way more expensive than they are now

i wonder if HP and PCP are more popular with less expensive brands.

Thats a good question. I think the key attractiveness of the BMW PCP, is that the interest rate is low ( often 2.9% ) , the credit vetting is simple because BMW underwrite it themselves. A friend of mine who works for the dealer in oxford, tells me he has never had an application bounce.

When you look at some of the Triumph (9.9%), Japanese vendors (9%) finance alternatives they seem to be a rip off ( just referring to the interest charged).

The impact on the used market of all these (extra) sales is already evident imho.

Cash for me. I won't dip into savings for a new bike either, but will have a few months of tightening the belt and hard saving. If I can't save enough in the time I need to, I won't change bikes. Simple.

Me too, its hard enough to earn so don't like giving it away in interest.

Good news today, mine is going to be a couple of weeks earlier than I first thought :-)
