Agree with most of what's been said. I've also bought the ally top box and it's great. I get all I need for work in it and it doesn't seem to affect the handling at all. Well made and looks he part too.

Main recommendation - just ride it loads! Don't spend your life tinkering...

Yep, I have to say that I was thinking the same way....but decided to stretch to the extra £800 for the ABS after thinking that I can see myself grabbing a fist full of brake and heading sideways towards the back of a bus and saying to myself, "jeez if only i had paid the extra for the ABS"....but I have never even considered ABS before, clever BeEm, eh!

ABS

I would never have considered ABS if it were not for the fact that almost every car now has it. For safety reasons I would suggest that you do not want to be out accelerated by or outbraked by a car. ( Or van or lorry or bus !!!)

Picked mine up last week, Alpine white, ABS, computer and chrome exhaust. Have the computer on the LT and found it useful. Did not go for the panniers / top box, ordered Krauser. Anakee tyres.

Not wanting to raise the old ABS or not ABS debate ...

I would have the spots, the computer and grips. Sod the ABS, it adds complexity and £800 without, IMHO, a commensurate amount of usefulness.

My twopenneth is:

Ordered my GS-A without ABS. Brakes are much better that my previous BM`s with ABS. IMHO they are more powerful and feel far more composed under hard braking.

Trip computor is great as a back up to the deadly accurate fuel guage !

Spot lamps really work and freaks drivers out when they see you coming. Ive had more people moving over since I had the bike than in 30 years on anything else. My mates call it the "Apache" because they reckon it looks like helicopter gunship with rocket launchers . That alone is enough to warrant the spots in my book!!

Whatever spec you get you`ll bloody well love it!
